It’s hard for pretty much anyone to make art under stress so I wouldn’t put it down to the loss of your soul if you’re stumped for a while. You are an amazing artist and you will never lose your abilities of brilliant observation and witty storytelling.

Lizz – I have struggled with something similar. It took me a long time to recognize that what was going on in my head was NOT normal and then an even longer time to get comfortable with the idea of taking medication. It’s been a tough road for me to figure out what kind of medicine works best, but I’m now on Cymbalta, and despite some yucky side effects (brain zaps, night sweats, etc.), I feel so much better. No more random freak outs or one misplaced water glass to set me off into a total meltdown. I was worried that the ups and downs that came with my mood swings were an essential part of ME, but I’m slowly getting back most of the good parts of that (random dance party in the kitchen!) without all of the bad parts. Lizz- cuzin Beth here. Awwwwuu. Chronic pain sucks…especially when no-one is listening. Had a broken back (verterbrae), and a disc/nerve issue. The broken back didnt bother me at all. The disc/ nerve issue crippled me. I went to a really bad chiropractor who made it worse by trying to “get my spine back in line”. Then I found a really good chiropractor who sent me to a regular doctor for xrays, mri, and catscan (each one viewed differently). Then my good chiropractor used ice therapy to reduce the inflammation (whenever it flared), then sonar therapy…but never did anything violent like “snapping my back” or ‘aligning my back”. Once we got the inflammation down, she taught me what movements I could and could not make. Some movements helped keep the nerve protected, othermovements squeezed the nerve and caused pain/ numbness/ dizziness…etc. If your Mom and Dad doesn’t have a surgeon in Syracuse…there is a good one in Albany… xoxo my thoughts are with you…And you know what they say… When 1 door closes, another opens.

You need a chiropractor. I used to have a numb left leg and pain in lower back. Gone.Surgery should be considered last.
